Arise, Go!

Today’s Verse:

Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel. Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses. ~Joshua 1:2-3

Happy New Year! Today marks the start of a new year. We cannot go back and repeat last year. It is behind us. The achievements, failures, and records of the last year stay there. It’s time to have a vision, vitality, and venture for the coming year. Now is the time to put in place your action plan for the coming year. Consider some things to help you and me get off to a great New Year start.

There is a New Year prayer.

The New Year prayer is for us to look as far ahead as possible and ask the Lord to direct our steps. Psalm 32:8 says, “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.” Our prayer should be, “Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.” Our prayer is that God’s will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Our prayer is that God will make a way for us as we travel this pilgrim path. Our prayer must be that we will have the best spiritual life year ever for God’s glory.

There are New Year possibilities.

God told Joshua, “Therefore arise, go over this Jordan.” Let the coming year be a year of great faith! Without faith it is impossible to please Him! Arise! Get up; get going, the game is just starting! There will always be a Jordan River that is overflowing its banks with its fast moving rapids. When we see this intimidating sight, we are prone to back off and not move forward. However, go over this Jordan. There are no possibilities until we cross the Jordan. Jordan must be crossed first. Approach this new year with a fervent desire to cross the rapids, to climb the rocky mountains, and to claim your stake where God wants to plant you.

There must be a New Year plan.

God told Joshua, “Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you.” In order to have a year of great accomplishments, there must be a well prayed over and thought out plan. Set some identifiable goals for the year. Establishing an action plan helps you map out how you will get to where you want to be at predetermined checkpoints. Make it your ambition to walk the path that God has for you! Don’t sit and dream: walk a vast area and claim the promise that every place that you walk on, God has given you. Don’t allow an unexpected detour or setback to discourage you. We walk by faith and not by sight! Just keep plodding! Spurgeon said, “By perseverance the snail reached the ark.”

There will be the New Year product.

God told Joshua, “That have I given you.” The product will either be a zero product year, or it will be a year of accomplishment. The product that you desire should include Bible reading attainment, daily time in prayer, people witnessed to during the week, people you give the plan of salvation to, people saved, and ministries in church that you will have a vital part in. The product should include family, financial, and personal accomplishments. Be sure that the product is something you have diligently prayed for and, as each goal is attained, that you give God the glory.

Have a year where every place the sole of your feet should tread upon will be your God-given accomplishment.

Have a vison-filled God Morning!
