Blessed be the Name

Today’s Verse:

From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord's name is to be praised. ~Psalm 113:3

Every morning is a new day! For some a new day means doing the same routine. For others, a new day means new surprises and new adventures. For all who call themselves Christians, a new day represents praising the Lord! We praise the Lord by giving acknowledgement to His holy and wonderful name. The name of the Lord describes Him in attribute and person. The psalmist demonstrates for us the necessity of saying each morning, “blessed be the name of the Lord”.

There is the preeminence in praising the name of the Lord.

“The Lord is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens.” There is none higher than the Lord. There is no power that compares to His power. The Lord’s ways surpass our ways. The Lord looks down upon us and sees that we are but dust in our frame. He looks upon us with pity and love. He is longsuffering toward us. He alone is worthy of our recognition and reverence. He is first above everything else. We praise the name of the Lord because it is the right thing to do. We praise the name of the Lord because it is the most honorable thing we can do.

There is the priority in praising the Lord for his name.

“Blessed be the name of the Lord from this time forth and for evermore.” Think of that: from this time forth and forevermore. We are to make it our practice to praise the Lord for His name, starting now and doing this forever. The name of the Lord should make us bow. The name of the Lord should make us bend. The name of the Lord is to be blessed! His name is to be held in highest esteem. We are to bless His name. We are to honor His name. We are to give reverence to His name.

There is the performance in praising the Lord for his name.

“From the rising of the sun to the going down of the same.” From sunup to sundown the Lord’s name is to be praised. All through the day we are to be conscious of the Lord’s name. There is goodness in His name. There is glory in His name. There is gladness in His name. It’s a name that makes a sinner a son of God. It’s a name that gives us the privilege of entering into the presence of God for our prayer requests. It’s a name that gives every believer authority against the powers of darkness. His name is deserving of no less than our heartfelt praise and adoration all through the day!

The best practice of our day is praising the Lord for His holy name. Let’s be sure that the Lord’s name is praised in our lives. Let’s make sure we schedule different times each day to praise the Lord for His name. From the rising of the sun to the going down of the same, the Lord’s name is to be praised. Take some time right now to praise the attributes of the Lord and to bless His holy name.

Have a Christ-exalting God morning!
