And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. ~Revelation 21:23
A lamb is one of the cutest little animals. There is an innocence and gentleness about a lamb that is adorable to children and adults alike. The word "lamb" is found 175 times in the Bible. It is found 33 times in the New Testament and 27 times in the book of Revelation. The symbol of the Lamb refers to the Lord Jesus Christ as the Lamb of God Who takes away the sin of the world. This morning, we see God’s precious Lamb!
“Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.” He is the Lamb Who shed His blood for every sinner. “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” (1 Peter 1:18-19). He is the sacrificial Lamb Who gave Himself voluntarily to atone for our sins.
“Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing” (Revelation 5:12). “These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful” (Revelation 17:14). He is the Lamb Who is worshiped, adored, and celebrated. He is the Lamb Who is above and over all. All Heaven rejoices in His Lordship. All of His enemies will bow and call Him Lord. He is the Lamb Who is forever eternal and glorious.
“And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints” (Revelation 15:3). The song of the Lamb is what the heavenly choir sings about Him. It is a song that magnifies His deity. It is a song that exalts His holiness. It is a song that celebrates His shed blood and death on the cross for every sinner. It is a song that we will sing for all eternity.
The Lamb lights up all of Heaven. There is no need of sunlight or moonlight because the Lamb is the light thereof. All of Heaven is always lit. His presence is everlasting light. There is eternal brightness because of the Lamb. He is the Sun of righteousness with healing in His wings. Just as a daily dosage of sun is good for your health, the continuous presence of the Lord Jesus makes Heaven a place where joy and peace fills it.
Let us rejoice in our precious Lamb, the Lord Jesus Christ! He is the Lamb Who is worshiped and honored by all.
