Help When It's Needed

Today’s Verse:

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. ~Psalm 46:1

Have you ever cried out, “Help”? If you have, you need assistance immediately. When help is needed, we are overcome with fear, anxiety, and morbid thoughts. There are times in life when the help we need is not available and we do not know what to do. This morning, we have a scriptural guarantee of help when it is needed.

We see an unmovable shelter.

“God is our refuge.” Have you ever traveled by foot or been on a hike when a severe storm has broken out? If you have, you know the importance of finding shelter to cover and protect us. God is our refuge. In fact, He is the rock of our refuge and a mighty fortress. He’s a shelter in the time of storm. He’s our protection from the billowing winds and heavy downpour that we experience in a trial. He is a dependable refuge that does not move or change, regardless of the storm we are in. He is a refuge that time and situations cannot alter.

We see an unmatched strength.

“God is our refuge and strength.” When help is needed, we rely on the strength of the one helping us to get us through our difficulty. Someone equal in strength or weaker than us will not do. Someone slightly stronger than us will not do. We need strength that is beyond the elements of our trial. God is our strength! His strength is above all. His strength carries and supports us. He is our inner strength to keep us from falling apart. He is our mental strength so that our mind is stayed on Him and not the problem. He is our spiritual strength that overcomes the enemy. He is our physical strength when we are so weak and depleted that all we can do is lean on the Lord.

We see an unfailing support.

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” God’s help is always timely. He’s never late, and He’s never too busy for us. God’s help is always tailor designed to us. His help fits our need at that moment. His help is always tender. We know that He loves us and cares for us when He sends us help. You can bank on the fact that God is a very present help. He gives us help that is real, reliable, and robust.

We see an unmistakable security.

“Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea.” Grasp hold of the fact that God is a very present help in time of trouble and that you need not fear. The earth might shake, the mountains might crumble, and the waters might roar, but there is no need to fear. When we settle in our thoughts that God is our refuge and strength, our fears are removed. Our security is found in the fact that we are holding on to the Lord, and not to our fears.

Don’t let your fears or your difficulty paralyze your faith. Be still and know that He is God: God Who is our refuge and strength. Have faith in God’s Person and power. He is a very present help in time of trouble. He’s your help when it is needed.

Have a peaceful God Morning!
