Today’s Verse:
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. ~Romans 8:37
One of my favorite hymns is “I’m on the Winning Side.” Dr. Curtis Hutson used to sing this hymn a lot, and made it prominent in our Independent Baptist circles. It joyfully describes how that after Christ saved us, we have been delivered from the penalty of sin. Not only that, but we have been saved from the power of sin. We have victory through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and the power of Christ. One day, we will be free from the presence of sin when are in heaven. In Rom. 8:37, Paul emphatically proclaims that we are on the winning side when he said, “We are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”
We are more than conquerors because of Christ’s unconditional PASSION.
God’s love doesn’t stop for us after the moment of salvation. His love continues to work in a supernatural way in our lives. It is a love that keeps on loving us. It is love that never lets us go. It is a love that is completely inseparable. It is a love that keeps giving. “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come. Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord,” Rom. 8:38-39. It’s a love that overcomes all of our insecurities. It’s a love that circumstances cannot alter. It’s a love that calms our fears and gives us peace in the midst of every storm. Rejoice in His love for you!
We are more than conquerors because of Christ’s unrestricted PRAYERS.
“Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us,” Rom. 8:34. When He ascended into heaven, He assumed His place at the Father’s right hand. There, Jesus as our Great High Priest ever liveth to make intercession for us. What an encouragement that Jesus is always praying for me! He is interceding for my strength! He is interceding for me when temptations and trials come! He is interceding for me to succeed and not fail in my walk with God. He is praying for us to do our best. He is praying that we are always steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord.
We are more than conquerors because of Christ’s untouchable PURPOSE.
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose,” Rom. 8:28. God never makes a mistake! All things in our lives work together for good because we love Him. We do not see at the beginning of these things how they work together for good, but as time unfolds, God shows us. Many tragic situations happen in our lives so that in the end, we always triumph. These things that work together for good are for the salvation of the lost. These things that work together for good are so that we are more conformed to the image of God. These things that work together for good are for the ultimate glory of God. All things working together for good means we are always on the winning side. What might look like evil, God intends it for good.
Don’t let distress, discouragement, or disappointment make you bitter and disenchanted with God. You are on the winning side! Let His passion, prayers, and purpose prevail in your life. Tell Satan to get behind you as you walk this pilgrim life.
Have a conquering God Morning!
