It Was Found Out

Today’s Verse:

And when inquisition was made of the matter, it was found out; therefore they were both hanged on a tree: and it was written in the book of the chronicles before the king. ~Esther 2:23

Sin is our willful disobedience against a holy and just God. Sin is defined as missing the mark, breaking God’s law, and going contrary to the direction that God has prescribed that we should follow. All of us have sinned and come short of the glory of God. However, we don’t want our sin to be known. This morning, let us see how sin is found out.

We see the device.

“In those days, while Mordecai sat in the king's gate, two of the king's chamberlains, Bigthan and Teresh, of those which kept the door, were wroth, and sought to lay hand on the king Ahasuerus.” Two of the king’s men, Bigthan and Teresh, became crossways with the king. There was malice in their device. They morphed from anger to wrath. "For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God." There was murder in their hearts. The sought to lay hands on the king, or assassinate him. They sought to secretly kill the king out of spite and hatred. They plotted this thing between them and thought that no knew about it.

We see the discovery.

“And the thing was known to Mordecai.... And when inquisition was made of the matter, it was found out.…” Mordecai learned firsthand about this evil plot. He knew that the king’s life was in mortal danger. He quickly told Esther the queen, who, in turn, told it to the king and affirmed it in Mordecai’s name. A formal investigation was launched, and the plot was found out. Think of those words: "it was found out"! Our sin will find us out. Cain thought that he could hide the murder of his brother Abel, but Abel’s blood cried out and Cain’s sin found him out. King Saul thought he could hide his disobedience from Samuel the prophet, but the bleating of the sheep and lowing of the oxen in the background gave him away. Sin cannot be hidden. God said that our sin will find us out.

We see the disclosure.

Mordecai disclosed the matter as soon as he found out. The king’s life was in danger. Mordecai acted responsibly. This pictures for us the soulwinner who knows that some "save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh." Mordecai acted rapidly. He quickly told the queen. We must move with haste in reaching the sinner before it is too late. A few weeks ago, I was asked to call on a lady who was given little time before she would pass from an extended illness. I spoke with her the day after I was informed of her condition. She gladly heard me and received our Lord as her Saviour. Two days later, I received a call that she had passed from this life. If I had waited, her life could have perished. Don’t withhold the gospel from people who need the Lord.

We see the damnation.

Both men were hanged on trees. "The wages of sin is death." "The soul that sinneth, it shall die." "Sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death." Sin carries a heavy consequence. If you’re not saved, get saved today! If you die without your sins forgiven, you will spend all of eternity in Hell. Jesus was crucified on a tree for your sins so that your sin debt could be paid in full. Confess your sin and place your faith in Him for your salvation. If you are saved but not living for God, confess your sin and seek restoration to fellowship. Remember, it shall find you out!

Have a sanctified God Morning!
