More Value

Today's Verse:

Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows. ~Matthew 10:29-31

We place value on who we are, what we do, and what we buy. Most everyone I know is value-conscious. When we get more than what we thought something was worth, we are impressed that it had more value. While we don’t think of ourselves as a commodity to be traded on the open market, it is comforting and exhilarating to know that we are of more value to God than we can comprehend. Let us see the ways in which we are of more value.

You are of more value as a person.

Jesus said, “Ye are of more value than many sparrows.” David said, “My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!” God is interested in every detail about our makeup, our motives, our mission, and our mortality. God takes care of the sparrows, but He takes even better care of us. You are not just another number or a speck in comparison to other people. You are a precious soul for whom Jesus gave his life. You have incredible value to God with your life and its accomplishments. “What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?" You are of more value.

You are of more value in your perpetuity.

Our life is much more than what we do in this world. God’s desire is that every living soul spends eternity in Heaven with Him. God does not want any man to lose his soul. Your perpetuity is indicated by where you will spend eternity. Jesus asked, “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” When you, by faith, receive Jesus Christ as your Savior, you are passed from death into life. You are born twice and will only die once. Accept Christ as your Savior and live for eternity. Eternity is where we will be forever and forever. You are of more value.

You are of more value through your participation.

Sometimes, we sit on the sidelines thinking that more talented and energetic people should be serving the Lord. In reality, God wants all of us to serve Him and be completely involved. Ornan the Jebusite told David, “I give it all.” You are of more value when you are sitting in your place, serving the Lord, witnessing in the power of the gospel, and giving your tithe and offerings. Participation requires that we be all in. Participation requires a “can do” attitude. Participation is taking non-involved people with us. Your example inspires other people. You are of more value!

You are of more value in your productivity.

The results that you produce from your work, effort, and investment are of more value. One more set of hands involved means greater accomplishment and a superior difference. Every man who took his place in rebuilding the wall at Jerusalem enabled the project to be completed in 52 record-breaking days, even despite strong opposition. When all of us are producing, more money is raised, more souls are saved, and more projects get accomplished. One of my closest pastor friends led his church to do a Sunday evening soulwinning campaign. Two thousand members went soulwinning and close to one thousand people were saved. Every person participated, and the result was a phenomenal number of people who got saved.

Yes, you are of more value! You will have difficulties, be disdained, and even experience defeat. God loves you and overshadows you wherever you may go and whatever you might do. Don’t let discouragement distract you. You are of more value!

Have a valuable God Morning!
