O Worship the Lord

Today's Verse:

O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker. For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness: ~Psalm 95:6-8

Psalm 95 is a wonderful psalm of worship. Worship is when we express our affection and adoration for God. We were made to worship and serve the Lord. God made us with the intent that we would worship Him for His goodness, greatness, and glory. Worship is to be individual and corporate. Worship is to be uninhibited. Worship is to be sacrificial. Worship should move us to tears and contriteness. Worship is designed to keep us tender-hearted and teachable. This morning is a call for God’s people to worship the Lord.

We see the assembly in worship.

This psalm calls upon God’s people to worship the Lord together. “O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.” Those who know Jesus as their personal Savior are called together to worship the Lord. We worship the Lord together through singing. We are to make a joyful noise unto the Lord. We are come into His presence with thanksgiving. When worship starts with singing and thanksgiving, we are preparing ourselves for God to do something great within us.

We see the awe in worship.

“For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods.” We must be filled with a sense of awe when it comes to God’s greatness. Creation itself makes this so evident. When we behold the grandeur and majesty of the mountains, the canyons, the open seas, the rushing rivers, the valley ways, and the universe in the day and night, it all points to God as the Master Designer of this universe. Nothing of what we behold happened by accident or because there was a big bang. There was intelligence, wisdom, and supernatural power involved. Are you overwhelmed with the greatness of God?

We see the action in worship.

“O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.” Worship demands that we approach God with humility. Worship demands that we approach God in holiness. Worship demands that we approach God with harmony. Bow down, and worship the Lord! Kneel down, and worship the Lord. Let us not be lazy and nonchalant about worship. Let us not be ashamed and timid in our worship. We are worshiping the Lord of lords and King of kings!

We see the admonition in worship.

Worship is not just about us speaking to God: it is a time for God to speak to us. Worship must be in present tense and personal. Today if you will hear His voice, harden not your hearts. Right worship keeps our heart tender, our conscience clear, and faith dependent upon God. We are prone to harden our heart against God. We are prone to ignore the voice of God. We are prone to put off our decisions. When God speaks, we are called upon to respond. We live in a generation where there is a terrible low when it comes to a fear of God. God is speaking, but we refuse to obey, hearken, and do what we are supposed to do. Worship should move us to obey every impulse of the Spirit.

How’s your worship? Do you worship? To not worship the Lord in the right way is an act of irreverence and disrespect. This morning, let us worship the Lord!

Have a worshipful God Morning!
