Our God Reigns
Today's Verse:
The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved. ~Psalm 93:1
We live in a world that is always in a state of flux. There is instability in economies, political leadership, laws, family life, and daily commerce. As technology advances, it is sad to read that famous retailers who have been household names have either gone out of business or are close to going out of business. With the reality of terrorism, we never know when a terrorist attack of some proportion could arise in any of our major cities. There is much instability in our world. However, Psalm 93 brings everything around us back into the proper and right perspective. Regardless of these instabilities, one thing is sure and steadfast: our God reigns!
Our God is unparalleled.
There is none like the Lord! He is clothed with majesty and with strength. He is great in His Person and attribute. There is none stronger than God. There is none more majestic than God. As creation testifies of the intelligence and infinite wisdom of God, He is genius in all things. Who can compare to God in holiness? None! Who can compare to God in strength? None! Who can compare to God in solving problems? None! He is unparalleled.
Our God is unchangeable.
“Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting.” God is forever constant. His kingdom is forever. He cannot be threatened by a military coup, insurgency, or revolt. He has been on His throne and will remain on it forever! You might ask what political party preference God holds to? Republican, Democrat, or Independent? He holds to one platform: holiness! All of God’s attributes are extensions of His attribute of holiness. He is holy in His judgment, His love, His grace, His truth, His mercy, His comfort, and His peace. His holiness never changes because He never changes. He is unchangeable.
Our God is unlimited.
“The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.” The sound of the ocean waters and a mighty rushing river brings a sense of fear and respect upon most people. However, as vast and powerful the waves of the ocean may be, God is unlimited in His power. He is all powerful! There is no energy source in the universe that can match Him. There are no rulers who are more powerful than Him. All principalities and powers bow to Him. “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow... And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.” His power is never inadequate. His power cannot be unplugged. His power cannot be surpassed. His power is underestimated. His power is unlimited!
Our God is unmatched.
“The LORD reigneth”! He topples the thrones of men. The strongest earthly ruler can be reduced to crawl as a four-footed beast. Worldly earthly rulers are forced to see the handwriting on the wall depicting their ruin. Boastful world leaders who want the praise of men are smitten and consumed with worms. God is forever on His throne. He is unmatched!
What does all of this mean? You can trust God with your life. You can trust God with your fears. You can trust Him for your future. You can trust Him with the eternal security of your soul. Don’t let the instability of things discourage you. Our God reigns forever and forever!
