Thank God I Am Free!

Today’s Verse:

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. ~Romans 8:1

A presidential pardon is when the President of the United States signs a declaration that a convicted criminal is exonerated from every crime he has been charged with and incarcerated for. It is a reversal of his criminal status. He is no longer a prisoner, but he is someone who is set free with no guilt of the past hanging over his head. He is someone who is able to cry out, “I’m free!” In Romans 8:1, we have the Christian’s guarantee of his eternal security. Because of Romans 8:1, we can proclaim, “Thank God I am free!”

Our eternal security is without doubt.

“He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God,” 1 John 5:12-13. Once you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior, you have eternal life. God promises us that He has given us eternal life, and that we shall never perish. Salvation is the free gift of God, and you can be fully assured that it cannot be lost or taken away.

Our eternal security is without damnation.

“There is therefore now no condemnation.” The penalty of sin has been removed. We have received better than an executive pardon. We will not go to hell to pay for our sins. Jesus paid for all of our sins when He died on the cross for us. He took our condemnation upon Himself. Our sins have been expunged: there is no sin record to accuse us. We have been exonerated and set free from any possibility of being condemned for our sins.

Our eternal security is without delay.

“There is therefore now no condemnation.” Salvation is immediate upon our acceptance by faith of Jesus Christ as Savior. It is not progressive. It is not subject to a conditional event. It is not deferred because of some other reason. It is instant and immediate when our faith is placed in Jesus alone for our salvation.

Our eternal security is without denial.

“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name,” John 1:12. At the moment of salvation, we become sons of God. Once you are a son of God, you are forever God’s child. God does not drop His children from their status. We are forever in the family of God. Our eternal security is all in the hands of God, and we do not have to fear of ever losing it. “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life,” John 5:24. I love those words that we “shall not come unto condemnation,” and “have passed from death to life.” Our eternal security is without denial.

With all this, we can rejoice and sing, “Thank God I am free!” Rejoice this morning that you are saved, and never at risk of losing this wonderful, free gift from God.

Have a secure God Morning!
