The Day of the Lord

Today’s Verse:

For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. Matthew 24:21

We live in the most advanced technological time ever in the history of man. The most advanced nations have at their disposal the ability to discharge weapons of mass destruction through nuclear and chemical bombs. The thought of a mad man being able to unleash havoc by entering a code and pressing a button is somewhat mind boggling. The Lord Jesus Christ describes a coming time period that will be unlike any other ever on earth. This time period is referred to as the Great Tribulation. This event follows the Rapture of the saved believer and precedes the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. It will be seven years in which the wrath of God is poured out on all who are left behind after the Rapture.

It will be a time of disasters.

“And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.” There will be large-scale wars everywhere in the world. It will be an unprecedented time of military conflict among all nations. Wars lead to wide-scale anarchy in these nations. Another disaster will involve the weather. Climate change will occur resulting in famines, flooding, earthquakes, tsunamis, and natural disasters. Relief efforts to assist those affected by these events will be inadequate. Cities and mass populations will be severely affected and in ruins.

It will be a time of deception.

“And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.” There will be an overrun of false teachers proclaiming themselves as deliverers to the people. These false teachers will blind the minds of the people. These false prophets will prey on the hearts and minds of these desperate people for their worship and money. They will mislead people into thinking that they are the Lord Jesus Christ. Topping off the list of false prophets will be a man known as the Beast or the Antichrist. This Satanically energized personality will successfully deceive the entire world to accept him as the leader of the entire world. This man who is also called the son of perdition will be the worst dictator and religious fraud ever to walk the earth.

It will be a time of depravity.

“And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.” Wickedness and sin will run rampant and unchecked. The hearts of people will be hardened and calloused to the risks associated with sinful practices. The Holy Spirit’s restraining power will be removed from the earth at the Rapture. Sin will abound unprecedented. The most wicked perversities and licentiousness will be the norm and the not the exception. Truly it will be a time that epitomizes men loving darkness and not light.

It will be a time of distress.

There will be wide-scale deaths. In fact, one-third of the world’s population will die from all the wars, disasters, and devastations. The feeling will be one of hopelessness and great fear. The Jews especially will be the target of hatred and persecution. There will be food shortages, economic failure, government failure, and the realization that the world is on a fast-moving timeline of the wrath of God upon it.

It will be a time of disclosure.

“And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.” The culmination of this horrific time of tribulation will be the glorious coming of the Lord Jesus Christ with the army of Heaven to do one final battle against every Christ-rejecter, and to establish His kingdom on earth.

Thankfully, if you are saved, you will not go through this time of tribulation. We are not appointed to wrath. However, as children of light, we must make manifest our deeds and do what we can in making a difference in helping others come to Christ before it is too late. Redeem the time and be ready for the Rapture.

Have a circumspect God Morning!
