The Perfect Way

Today's Verse:

I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart. ~Psalm 101:2

The word "perfect" speaks to us about things that are absolute. It is something that does not need alterations or changes. It is made to fit. It is exactly what is needed. It is that which is for our good. It is perfect! This morning, we are studying a psalm where David speaks of the perfect way. God’s will is that we are walking in the perfect way. What is this perfect way??

There is the fundamental belief.

The starting point for the perfect way is what you believe. We must believe with all of our heart that the Lord Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. He is the only way for forgiveness from our sins and entrance into Heaven. He is the only Savior Who died for the sins of the world. The perfect way requires faith alone in Christ as Savior. The perfect way demands submission and obedience to Christ as Lord. We must believe that the way of the Lord is the right and perfect way. “As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him,” (Psalm 18:30).

There is the faithful behavior.

“I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way.” We must be wise about the perfect way. It is the doctrine and directives of the Word of God. It is all the commandments, precepts, and requirements that God has laid out in His Word. We must walk in the perfect way. Right beliefs lead to right behavior. I will walk within my house with a perfect heart. There is absolute devotion and commitment to Christ as Lord. A perfect heart is not divided in love, loyalty, and obligation. Our behavior is righteous, holy, and in alignment with His standards.

There are the fail-safe boundaries.

“I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me. A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person. Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer.” The perfect way entails that we separate ourselves from covetous desires. It requires that we do not associate with carnal and worldly believers. We establish necessary boundaries in our life to keep us from wrong thoughts, wrong words, and wrong decisions. It means that we must draw the line in the sand and keep a safe distance from people whose influence could take us off the perfect way.

There is the favorable body.

“Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me. The favorable body is the faithful of the land. This is God’s people! This is God’s people who are fervent in Spirit and serving the Lord. This is God’s people who delight themselves in fellowshiping around His word, preaching, soulwinning, serving, and helping others. It is not a social network. It is a spiritual body of believers who are saved and baptized and make up the local New Testament church. It is people who love Jesus, love His church, and do not forsake the assembling of themselves together.

Are you walking in the perfect way, or are you walking in the wrong pathway? The perfect way is God’s will for us. Get on it, stay on it, and help point others to it.

Have a faithful God Morning!
