The Right Hand

Today’s Verse

I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. ~Psalm 16:8

Being right-handed represents strength, favor, priority, and honor. People who are right handed favor the use of the right hand over the left hand. David said that he set the Lord at his right hand. He was saying, “God is first in my life.” Let us see the blessing that God bestows on those who put Him at the right hand.

We see stability.

David said, “I shall not be moved.” His faith in God is rock solid and unmovable. He is not a double-minded man who is unstable in all his ways. Because he trusts in the Lord with his heart, he does not lean upon his own understanding. He is steadfast when storms and winds come. He is not a pushover when doctrinal error knocks at his door. The devil might try to distract him and get him to move, but, instead, he is stayed upon Jehovah. When the Lord is first in our life, we are not easily moved.

We see celebration.

“Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth.” There is great happiness and rejoicing in the Lord. Those who have God at their right hand are content and have less worries and anxieties than those who do not have God at their right hand. They live in a continuous state of worship. They rejoice in serving the Lord. They rejoice in God’s mercies and forgiveness. They rejoice in souls being saved. They rejoice in giving. They rejoice in serving and helping others. They enjoy and love participating in the things of the Lord.

We see serenity.

“My flesh also shall rest in hope.” The person who has God at his right hand is at peace with God’s perfect will. He has a strong future to look forward to. He looks forward to his home in Heaven. He looks forward to the Lord coming again. His hope is “Christ in you, the hope of glory.”

We see security.

“For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.” This verse is a messianic prophecy concerning the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is also a word of security for every believer who has God at their right hand. First, we see eternal security. Heaven is our home after this life. Heaven is guaranteed because we have passed from death unto life. Second, we see resurrection security. Our corruptible bodies will be raised up in the likeness of Christ. This mortal shall put on immortal. This corruptible shall put on incorruptible. Death shall be swallowed up in victory.

We see success.

“Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” Jesus said, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Success is the path of life. “He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.” Success is fullness of joy because we are in His presence. Jesus said, “These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.” Our joy cup is full and is never depleted. Success is His pleasures forevermore. Life is great! Every day is a blessing! He always leads us rightly. He always gives us His best. He never leaves us nor forsakes us. He is for us and not against us. What is the key to success? Be sure that God is at your right hand. Put God first in all things.

Have a prioritized God Morning!
