He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. ~Psalm 91:1
Sometimes people refer to their favorite vacation spot as their secret getaway. By this they are referring to a location where they have rest, enjoy themselves immensely, and go to often. It is a place that is special to them and they think of returning to it over and over again. This morning we are exhorted to dwell and live in the secret place of the Most High. We want to see the impact a daily time with God does for every Christian.
It is a place where only you and the Lord meet. It is a private place. It is a place that you identify as your retreat for prayer. It is where the Bible is read and God meets you through His Word. It is unique to you and the Lord. All the distractions of the world are not allowed there. Electronic devices are turned off and phone calls are not accepted. It is the secret place of the Most High.
The person who meets God there has His protection upon Him. The arrow that flieth by day and the terror by night cannot harm a person who dwells there. The problems and trials of life look small when compared to the mighty God Who we meet with. We are protected from the attacks and dangers of life because we are under the shadow of the Almighty. It is safe there. It is secure there. It is a shelter in the time of storm.
It is the prayer closet of the Christian. It is where God is called upon for our needs. It is where we call upon the Lord for every need in our life. It is where we see God’s power at work. We realize how spiritually weak we are and how dependent we are upon God. Through prayer we call upon the Lord
We are closer to our God. We sense His power working in and through us. We discover how much God loves and abides with us. We have joy that is unspeakable and full of glory. We see answers to prayer in this place. We make our best decisions for the Lord when we are in the secret place of the Most High
Do you meet God in the secret place of the Most High? Are you abiding in his shadow? Do you look forward to meeting God daily in the secret place? If not, make today your starting point and watch how God touches your life.
