Thirst Quencher

Today’s Verse:

As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country. ~Proverbs 25:25

Do you get thirsty often? Being thirsty is sign we are dehydrated and need water to rehydrate. Thirstiness is especially evident when the weather is very hot, or after we have been engaged in rigorous physical activity such as an exercise workout. The best kind of water to drink to quench our thirst is cold water. Solomon said, “As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.” Just as cold water satisfies the need of a thirsty person, good news from a far country satisfies our soul. This morning, let us see how good news from Heaven quenches our spiritual thirst.

There is the good news that Jesus offers eternal life to all who call on Him by faith. Jesus told the woman at the well, “But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.” That’s good news from a far country! Every sinner is spiritually in need of the only water that can quench their thirsty soul: the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the water that satisfies the thirsting soul. Once you take Jesus by faith as your Savior, you will never thirst again! That’s good news!

There is the good news that once you are saved, you are always saved. Jesus proclaimed, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” That’s good news from a far country! Jesus is the Prophet of God Who gives encouragement and a word of cheer for every doubting and insecure person. What a wonderful fact that when you get saved, you shall not come into condemnation, but you are passed from death to life. You no longer are in the realm of the dead, but are alive forever in Christ. The good news is that you passed from death to life, from darkness to light, from being a child of Satan to being a child of God, from being destined to Hell to being destined to Heaven, from being unsaved to being saved! That’s good news from a far country!

There is the good news of answered prayer. “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” This was a promise for answered prayer from God to Jeremiah. That’s good news from a far country! What a blessed encouragement that we are called to pray and seek the Lord for all of our needs and the needs of others. Jesus said, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” Let’s pray! Let’s pray boldly for God to work! We’ve got good news from a far country!

There is the good news that Jesus is coming again. Acts 1:10-11 says, “And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.” The angels brought good news from Heaven! Jesus is coming again. It may be morning; it may be noon; it may be evening; it will be soon! He is coming suddenly, swiftly, and surprisingly! It will be a rejoicing and reunion time for all of us who are saved! That’s good news!

The Bible is God’s good news from a far country. It is cold water to a thirsty soul! Make 2018 the year of the Bible for your life, and quench your thirsting need!

Have a thirst-quenched God Morning!
