Today’s Verse:
And Moses said unto Pharaoh, Glory over me: when shall I intreat for thee, and for thy servants, and for thy people, to destroy the frogs from thee and thy houses, that they may remain in the river only? And he said, To morrow. And he said, Be it according to thy word: that thou mayest know that there is none like unto the LORD our God. ~Exodus 8:9-10
Are you a procrastinator? Are you prone to put things off? Do you find it difficult to make the right decision when the opportunity is before you? Moses asked Pharaoh, “When shall I intreat for thee?” Pharaoh said, “To morrow.” Let us see why tomorrow could be too late.
We see the reason.
“And the river shall bring forth frogs abundantly, which shall go up and come into thine house, and into thy bedchamber, and upon thy bed, and into the house of thy servants, and upon thy people, and into thine ovens, and into thy kneadingtroughs: And the frogs shall come up both on thee, and upon thy people, and upon all thy servants.” God sent a plague of frogs to cover everything and everyone in Egypt. The Egyptians worshipped the frog god Hekt. The worship of the Nile and frogs were one of several idolatrous deities they worshipped. Frogs were worshipped for their fertility. The plague of frogs covered everything and everybody. Pharaoh knew he had a big problem on his hand, but he procrastinated because he didn’t think it was that bad. He put off making a right decision because he thought it would take care of itself, but it didn’t.
We see the ruin.
The plague of frogs was so awful that Pharaoh and the people despised the frogs’ presence. They could not eat, drink, sit, sleep, or walk anywhere without frogs. The water supply, food supply, and sanitary conditions were defiled with frogs. In one day, the frog plague ruined everything in Egypt. They had enough of the frogs. In order to get our attention, God has to bring us to a place in life when we cannot tolerate any longer our sinful lifestyle, unconfessed sins, or putting off an important decision. Pharaoh called Moses in and asked him to pray to God to take away the frogs. Moses asked when he should do this. Pharaoh said “To morrow.” Pharaoh put off a critical decision to his own ruin. He basically told Moses, “I want one more night like this, then you can pray.” If you wait until tomorrow to get right with God, your opportunity might be lost. If you wait until tomorrow to get saved, tomorrow might be too late. If you wait until tomorrow to win that loved one to Christ, tomorrow might be too late. Tomorrow could be your ruin!
We see the resolve.
First, if you are someone who tends to be indecisive, remember that the Bible tells us “to day” and not “to morrow” when it comes to spiritual decisions. Don’t put off surrendering your life to God to serve Him: do it today. Don’t put off witnessing to your unsaved family and friends: do it today! Don’t put off reconciling with someone you have been angry with: do it today. Don’t put off getting saved: do it today! Second, remember that tomorrow could be too late. Be resolved to live each day by a set of priorities. Be resolved to “choose you this day whom ye will serve.” Today is the accepted time.
“Too late” are words that fill us with regret and grief. Ask God to order your steps and guide your thoughts so that you don’t put off the important decisions you must make.
Have a prioritized God Morning!
