Today’s Verse
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. ~Psalm 20:7
Perhaps one of the most powerful names in the world today is President Donald Trump. When he first became president, there were many skeptics, doubters, and mockers. Yet, he has proven himself a strong, resolute, and unflinching leader. Regardless of what you think about him, his name is held in high regard among world leaders. There is a greater name that every believer can have 100% trust and faith in: the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Let us see how the name of the Lord gives us unfailing help.
We see the praying in His name.
“Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand.” We pray in Jesus’ name. He has promised us that “whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do.” Asking in His name gives us open access to the throne of grace. Asking in His name opens the doors and windows of Heaven for God to work on our behalf. God loves it when we frequently come to His throne for help and enablement. He hears us when we pray in His name. He answers us when we pray in His name.
We see the protection through His name.
“The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee; Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion.” “The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.” We have shelter and refuge in the Lord’s name. He defends us from the arrow that flyeth by day and from the terror by night. He sends us help from the sanctuary of Heaven. I think of His mighty, invisible angels that encamp about them that love Him. His name is the believer’s safe house.
We see the promotion of His name.
“We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the LORD fulfil all thy petitions.” Banners are used when armies go to war. They clearly denote the kingdom they represent. Banners are used in parades and public celebrations. We wave our flag, or banner, high so that all can see that we love our country. Our banners unashamedly tell others that He is our Lord! It tells them that we love Him and He is our God. Let us lift high the flag of Heaven, and make it known that Jesus is our Lord!
We see the priority of His name.
We have faith in the name of the Lord. David speaks about people who trust in their chariots and horses. In other words, men trust in their wealth, their health, their own strength, and what they think they can do on their own. David made it his priority to have faith in the name of the Lord. There is salvation in His name. There is safety in His name. There is success in His name. There is power in the excellent name of our Lord. Let us revere His holy name. Let us exalt His holy name. Let us come boldly to the throne of grace, that we might find grace to help in time of need.
Rejoice, this morning, in the name which is above every name. Call upon Him in faith. “Let the king hear us when we call.”
Have a Christ-exalted God Morning!
