Wonder Bread

Today's Verse:

And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. ~John 6:35

Growing up as a kid, one of the more prominent bread companies was a company named Wonder® Bread. They advertised that their bread contained all of the essential vitamins and compounds for a strong body. Hence, the name Wonder Bread distinguished it from its rivals. This morning, we are looking at the only true Wonder Bread: the Lord Jesus, the Bread of Life!

We see the staple in bread.

Bread is a common staple in the diets of most cultures. It is a staple that is nutritious. It is a comfort food. It is a starchy food that accompanies most meals. It is an essential of life. Just as most people cannot do without bread at a meal, none of us can do without the Lord Jesus Christ in our lives. Without Him, we can do nothing. In all things Jesus is to have preeminence.

We see the significance in this Bread.

Jesus is the Bread of life. He is the source of everlasting life. He satisfies the hunger of every soul. He must be taken by faith in order to have eternal life. He must be taken completely as God’s sufficient sacrifice for sin. We cannot say that we take Jesus by faith and still hold onto the traditions of religion thinking that will save us from our sins. No, a sinner must accept Jesus completely as the Way, the Truth, and the Life in order to be saved. Jesus said, “Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.” This is not referring to a literal eating and drinking, but the taking of Christ by faith. Jesus alone saves us and gives us eternal life.

We see the satisfaction in this Bread.

Every person who by faith accepts Jesus as Savior will never hunger or thirst again. He satisfies our spiritual craving. He fills the emptiness and the void that we once had. He gives us hope and security for our future. He gives us life and life that is more abundant. He never leaves us nor forsakes us. He is our help in our time of need. He sustains and strengthens us. He is the Anchor for our soul. He is the peace that surpasses all understanding.

We see the selection of this Bread.

Jesus invites every sinner to freely accept Him by faith as Savior. This is a voluntary decision on the part of the sinner. Again, as Jesus said, “Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.” You cannot be saved and go to Heaven without Christ as Savior. This selection should be immediate and in faith.

Have you received the Bread of life? If not, you can call on the Lord today, He will save you from your sins, and you can have the gift of eternal life. Take the true Wonder Bread for your life today!

Have a satisfied God Morning!
